Filter Bugs - Nexus ???????

Postby jasper1967 » Tue May 16, 2017 6:30 am

Hello, Now the climate is warming up I have started to feed my fish a little more food each day which can have its water problems. I have a Nexus 210. I ordered some NT labs filter bugs but realised when the arrived they are pads to go in filter tanks. What are the best filter bugs to go inside a Nexus? Thanks. Paul.

Nothing, if your water parameters were good last year the bugs that helped you achieve that will slowly begin to emerge from their winter dormancy as soon as the water temperature is suitable and will develop better when the temperature rises nearer to about 15°C. If you add new bugs they will only follow the same pattern. If the water temperature isn't suitable for your current bugs to develop to full maturity then it won't be suitable for any new bugs. Just feed slowly and watch the ammonia and nitrite parameters to make sure that you don't cause spikes by over enthusiastic feeding.
